Signifying the beauty of moonlight
About Us
Dr Smt. Shilpa Bayas Verma is a dedicated social worker with a strong commitment to serve the underprivileged children and children with special needs. To impart quality education to the social masses she took up the initiative to set up schools in rural areas.
Our Story
Meet, Dr Smt. Shilpa Bayas Verma, who truly believes that knowledge is a fundamental right, yet many children face barriers in accessing quality learning. To bridge this gap, Shree Mangesh Memorial lnternational School and Jr. College at Daund Maharashtra was founded under the able guidance and leadership of Dr Smt. Shilpa Bayas Verma to provide free education and resources to the children from the lesser privileged backgrounds. Her tireless efforts have already impacted countless lives, inspiring a brighter future for generations to come.
It all began with a small school in a remote area of Daund Maharashtra with an intention to educate the rural children offering them good quality education along with providing sustainable job opportunities to the local women to increase household income and improve their living standards. For the families living in this area twenty-four years ago, having access to puppet theatre, worksheets, and instructional aids made by local artists, was a dream come true. The farmer families showing up in tractors to view their child’s work became an integral part of the parent-teacher meetings. During festivals, the children were trained to make Diyas fostering creativity and life skills, which were then sold across Pune stores. The income generated through this was then utilised for providing better infrastructure and amenities for the less privileged students.
Dr Smt. Shilpa Bayas Verma is a classic example of selfless dedication to creating a positive change. She envisions a world where women are able to break the patriarchal norms and are empowered to lead. Dr Smt. Shilpa Bayas Verma introduced the product line of a multi-network marketing organisation to the rural women and offered them startup assistance and entrepreneurial guidance. She conducted special workshops for the women of rural areas where they were taught to be self-reliant. This allowed the women to gain knowledge of marketing techniques thereby becoming financially independent and breaking the cycle of poverty.

Weaving A New Story
A true social worker, entrepreneur and philanthropist at heart; Dr Smt. Shilpa Bayas Verma has always been sensitive to the needs of distressed people. For the last 15 years, she has been successfully running the business of handloom sarees with the vision of not only employing weavers and rural women but also utilising this income for the education and upliftment of underprivileged children.
For the Indian weavers, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a significant deal of financial instability. Every craftsman in the nation struggled to put food on their plates and a roof over their heads to survive the lockdown. Dr Smt. Shilpa Bayas Verma travelled extensively throughout India, interacting with the weavers and learning about their struggles, to provide assistance to the weaver community in her own small way.
Thus, Kairavee Weaves and Looms was born.
Kairavee: The beauty of moonlight
The beauty of moonlight has such an effect that it turns even a scarlet rose white. Just like the moon that spreads its light in the dark, Kairavee envisions to bring a ray of hope and new possibilities into the lives of the weaver community.
Dr Smt. Shilpa Bayas Verma believed that the short-term goal of this initiative was to make the craftsmen economically secure enough to see them through the worst of the crisis but also in the long run, help them retain the skill of this rich traditional Indian handloom industry. Kairavee is an online as well as offline store that started with the noble intention of supporting the handloom industry, which is the next major skilled workmanship sector after the farmers in India.
Kairavee envisions not only to generate employment opportunities for the weavers but also for the small artists residing in the rural areas. These artists create designs for Kairavee sarees which are then converted into punch cards and handed over to the weavers who then beautifully weave them in their palette of loom, bringing to life not only the artist’s imagination but also joy and hope in their lives.
Weaving Tradition, Wearing Heritage
Dr Smt. Shilpa Bayas Verma understands that in a world dominated by machine-made fabrics, the handloom industry stands as a testament to traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage. However, this ancient art form faces threats from declining demand and lack of support. Dr Smt. Shilpa Bayas Verma makes a plea to everyone to buy Swadeshi thereby helping our local artisans restore a regular economic cycle. She believes that if everyone works together, the intangible cultural legacy can be preserved.
Our Collection
Our collection features a wide range of handcrafted sarees, each one unique and exquisite. From classic designs to modern interpretations, our sarees are a testament to the versatility and beauty of handloom weaving. We believe in sustainable fashion and work closely with our artisans to ensure that our practices are environmentally friendly and socially responsible.
Prospects of Continuity and Potential for Future Development
International shows. Kairavee also intends to introduce a pension plan scheme for its weavers; a step which will ensure that their future is secured. The income generated will continue to support the welfare of the weavers and fund education for kids from lower socio economic status. Kairavee believes in encouraging more women to work both in the handloom and education sectors in rural areas to supplement their family income and contribute towards national growth and development in their own small way.
